Edible Gardens

'Edible Gardens'. This concept works by local people planting vegetation near bus stops and train stations so people on-the -go can collect their ingredients on the go. Already underway in London's suburbia estate, which is working to bring communities back together by producing their own vegetation and in turn saving on money and time. It is my opinion that this is a positive step forward in the right direction towards a more sustainable future and ironically a slight step backwards in economy, as this was the case (growing our own food) from the dawn of man.

"Fritz Haegs has been recently creating edible landscape design. Or eatable landscaping or vegetable social gardening. Or call it what you wish. In any case, it's only with edible plants. And apparently that's just about the most in thing around these days. But that's not what I like most about it. The best part of it is its connection to the idea of creating a public space out of a private one. Haeg's transformation of space involves a community working on a private front lawn to transform it into a public space, a sort of a public vegetable garden."
